System Configuration

The control and monitoring systems can be configured to two primary formats depending on your preference and how your vessel is fitted out.

Centralised PLC

Centralised PLC with Local or Remote IO

This is the most conventional form of system. The PLC is fitted generally within the engine AC\DC panels where it is local to the primary elements; engines, generators etc. The various digital and analogue connections from around the vessel are then hardwired back to the unit or we can supply remote digital or analogue IO blocks which can be arrayed around the vessel at suitable locations and which will then communicate back to the central PLC on a bus network.

Distributed Intelligence

Distributed Intelligence

The alternate format is to fit blocks of intelligence (multiple PLC’s) at various locations around the vessel. Cable runs are kept to a minimum and each of the remote PLC’s talk to one master unit on bus network.
